Every year theFund makes hundreds of workplace presentations, giving employees the opportunity to support theFund’s mission and its 28 affiliates. Staff cannot make all of these presentations and must rely on volunteers, board members and the affiliates to help.
When possible the affiliates help theFund with its workplace presentations by providing various artists who perform and talk about their artistic experiences.
Sometimes even the parents get involved, as was the case with Ruby Perez, mother of Dennis Perez, sophomore theatre major, at UIW. Ruby spoke to the leadership group at the Toyota Plant during the opening campaign presentation. Ruby told of how important the arts were to both her children, especially Dennis. Dennis made presentations at Port San Antonio.
Robin Morales is another mom who has helped theFund by making it possible for her daughter Olivia to be at workplace presentations, some very earlier in the morning. Always a challenge for most artists, performing before 8am in the day, but Olivia did a super job while representing the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio where she is a member.
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Magik Theatre, and San Pedro Playhouse have also engaged their performing groups and artists in theFund’s workplace presentations. On a rare occasion, a company will go to a Fund affiliate, as was the case when the Southwest School of Art and Craft hosted the Denim Group in an art class at the school, so they could experience what students do first hand.
We don’t want to forget the individual Fund board members and community volunteers who make a workplace presentation on behalf of theFund. We are fortunate to be able to call on them when the need arises.
Finally, to the employees at the various company partners who present theFund to their fellow employees in the workplace, we say thanks. These employees become theFund's ambassadors within their company and or departments. Not only are they helping ease the load during crowded campaign schedules, but are passionately presenting theFund concept to their fellow employees. For example, several of the county campaign coordinators this year, saw double and triple digit increases over the previous year because of their passion, not persuasion, which they put into their presentations. We cannot thank them enough.
