If you have already donated $60 or more to theFund in a United Way combined campaign and did not recieve your FUNd card, please contact us.

All workplace donations are allocated to the 27 Fund Affiliates. All are non-profit arts organizations located in San Antonio that have met qualification criteria established by theFund. Even the smallest donation will make a difference when combined with others. Mark your Calendars for next year's Luminaria: March 10, 2012 ARTIST Application for 2012 Changes in selection process Volunteer theFund's Involvement with Luminaria History Luminaria's first year, 2008, theFund staffed just a couple of information booths with a handful of adventurous volunteer Board members. The second year, 2009, we added a t-shirt booth to raise money for the artists. The third year, 2010, we added Beer concessions, also to raise money for the arts, along with continuing to staff and manage Information tables, and Retail tents. 2011, theFund Volunteer Corps, then added planning and implementing the food concessions, to the management of the other concessions. Each year we have recruited volunteers to meet the new demands of the growing event. Who Benefits? theFund donors make smart investments that enrich the arts in their community. theFund is a united arts fund created to generate a new source of operating funds to help financially strengthen qualified non-profit arts and cultural organizations. theFund is a mechanism for individuals to multiply their resources and give to a variety of creative organizations through just one gift, either through a workplace campaign, or directly as an individual. Other than our 27 qualified affiliates, we welcome all San Antonio and surrounding area organizations and individuals to post their community events on our Calendar, provided their listing meets the following guidelines: We generally do not post events for you: All events are self - posted. All events are subject to approval. Events that incorporate music, art, theatre, dance, history, literary arts, or culture are our focus.That said listings should be related in some way to one or more of the following areas: arts, culture, education, or history. Listings should be for not-for-profit events or listed by non-profit organizations. Fundraising events for any of these related areas are welcome, particularly if they benefit the arts in San Antonio. Its just what our beautiful city needs to bring it back to its rightful place as a leader in the arts. Each child should have exposure to them (the arts) during his or her early years. It encourages creativity, which in turn helps them to become unique individuals. Our Mission To provide financial operating support to qualified arts and cultural organizations through workplace giving campaigns, corporate grants, and individuals. Our History In the spring of 2003, Bexar County Judge, Nelson Wolff, introduced the idea of creating theFund after learning about the success of united arts funds in other cities from Dennis Cuneo of Toyota Motor Manufacturing. During the summer and fall of 2003, an extensive list of arts and cultural supporters and administrators worked on the concept for theFund. An area wide survey conducted indicated that 70% of those surveyed would make a payroll deduction gift to a United Art Fund if given the opportunity. A board of directors formed and Bexar County Arts and Cultural Fund, the legal name of theFund, Incorporated on October 17, 2003. theFund held its first community giving campaign in 2005, raising $215,000 in support of 24 organzations. theFund now...

In 2006, six students from the International School of the Americas, (ISA), approached theFund with the idea of producing a fund raiser for theFund as their project. Their mission was to broaden the awareness of the variety of arts in San Antonio. The school asks the students in the freshman class to select a program under their schools Make a Difference program. These students, Jordan Birnbaum, Rosalie Bonner, Clara Gutierrez, Colin McGilvray, John Miller, and Consuelo Avila produced the first event held at the Magik theatre in March of 2006. The event was called From Garage Spaces to A Night of the Arts and featured performances from theFund affiliates, and local garage bands.Florence MacDaniel, then a member of theFund board of directors, volunteered to mentor the students as they worked to produce the event.
