Workplace Giving

Workplace-giving campaigns are the financial cornerstone of theFund. During these campaigns, employees are introduced to theFund through a brief presentation and 4 minute video, and then asked if they would like to support the arts by donating to theFund. Over the years, many employees have expressed, that they would have given sooner had they been asked. Each year theFund holds workplace campaigns at businesses, universities, public school districts and our affiliate organizations. theFund is about broadening support for arts and culture in San Antonio.

San Antonio falls behind other Texas cities when it comes to funding for the arts. So, theFund-- the first and only United Arts Fund in Texas-- was created to provide an additional source of funding for the arts.

As our community grows, the need for stronger financial support for our arts and cultural institutions also grows.

History & Mission

Our Mission To provide financial operating support to qualified arts and cultural organizations through workplace giving campaigns, corporate grants, and individuals. Our History In the spring of 2003, Bexar County Judge, Nelson Wolffe, introduced the idea of creating theFund after learning about the success of United Arts Funds in other cities. After much contemplation, a board of directors formed the Bexar County Arts and Cultural Fund on October 17, 2003. theFund held its first community giving campaign in 2005, raising $215,000 to support 24 organizations. theFund today supports 25 qualified non-profit organizations. Our Organization theFund is a United Arts Fund. theFund is a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization. 2012 Campaign

Annual Workplace Campaigns are the cornerstone of our fundraising. Workplace Campaigns allows employees that love and want to support the arts to make a single donation, or to make an ongoing donation through-out the year. All proceeds are reallocated to our 25 qualified affiliates. On August 15, 2012, we made a $34,437.34 allocation to our 25 affiliates. On December 19, 2012 we made a $49,144.33 allocation to our 25 affiliates. TheFund Board of Directors have been diligently working to bring on new workplace campaigns and revitilize past campaigns. What they have accomplished so far: The Bexar County Employee Campaign started on May 23 following a huge turn out of elected officials and appointed officials at the leadership luncheon. We then had a good turn out from the department coordinators at their luncheon. We have several of our big departments already lining up presentation dates. The county employees surpassed last year's contribution record of $32,000...

Bexar County is funding 9 summer internships with local nonprofit arts organizations to allow the nonprofits an opportunity to offer a paid 10-week summer internship to attract motivated college students to work on seasonal or special projects. Students selected to participate will develop a closer understanding of how the arts benefit their community, along with real world application of business skills which can then be applied to their individual careers. THANK YOU for volunteering your time to an important and exciting event! The following is detailed information for ALL Volunteers . General Information: Luminaria is on Saturday, March 9, 2013. It officially begins at 7pm and will end at 12 am. The concessions however will be opening early. Ticket booths will open at 4:30 pm, Retail is opening their booths at 4:30 pm. Food and beverage booths will open at 5 pm. All volunteers should attend one of the two scheduled orientation/training meetings.
